These are a few organizations that we have experience working with that we believe may be of the best use to you in getting a “hand up”, NOT always another “hand out”!
Set Free by the Sea – Men’s discipleship program. Phase 1 is 5 months. May require persistence to get in. No narcotic medications or phones allowed during phase 1. Your job is to get equipped with the word of God. (904)849-1091. There is a program for Women in Wyoming, bus tickets may be available for willing people.
Quest – Quest is a good place to start for housing. They do intake / evaluations for many housing programs. They also provide mail services for homeless, as well as help getting ID’s and food stamps. 904-358-2411
I.M. Sulzbacher Center - 611 E Adams St. This shelter seems to offer the most services. There are medical and dental services on site, housing for men, women and families and also case management. 904-359-0457
Awakenings House (Women’s) – Awakenings is a women’s halfway/sober living house and discipleship program that is pretty flexible – (904)710-3844
If you struggle with addiction, Detox may be a good place to start. Gateway Detox -904-387-4661. There are many resources there. You may have to be persistent to get in.

Mondays - Free in Faith Ministries / Hot Dogs for Hope. Every Monday Evening - Laundry Ministry – 1 load washed and dried for free at Speed Queen Coin Laundry at 10th & Main. They also serve bagged hot dog dinners throughout downtown from 6-8 at many spots including The Landing, Hemming Park, Dog Park, Sulzbacher and more. www.FreeInFaith.com
Wednesdays - Cup of Love – Every Wednesday Morning from 8:30-10:00 coffee, food and prayer at St. Phillips Episcopal Church parking lot AND Last Saturday of the Month at City Rescue Ministry 313 W Union St, Jacksonville, Florida 32202. Provides food, coffee, haircuts, clothing and more. 9:00-11:00.
Wednesdays - San Marco Church – 1620 Naldo Ave – Love Cleans mobile shower unit 4:30-6:00, Food from 6-6:45, church service 6:45-7:30.
Saturdays - “Pizza Church” / First Coast Dream Center – Every Saturday morning - Courtyard Café at 440 W. Adams St. across from the courthouse. Church service at 10:00, free pizza / Italian lunch immediately following service.
Sundays - Celebration Church – Clara White Mission 613 W Ashley St 2nd and 4th Sundays each month from 2-4. Food, haircuts, bike repair, clothing and more.
